Corcoran Earns Honorable Mention All-American Honors in 200 IM at NCAA Championships
Sophomore Megan Corcoran posted a strong showing for the Carson-Newman Eagles Wednesday at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200-yard individual medley at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore Megan Corcoran posted a strong showing for the Carson-Newman Eagles Wednesday at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200-yard individual medley at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Corcoran began the day in the morning preliminary heats, finishing 14th overall with a time of 2:03.90 to secure a spot in the consolation final. The sophomore opened with a 26.45 butterfly split, followed by a 30.42 backstroke leg to reach the halfway mark in 56.87. She then recorded a 37.85 breaststroke split before closing with a 29.18 freestyle leg to touch in 2:03.90.
Returning for the evening finals session, Corcoran improved her time and placed 10th overall with a 2:02.21 in the consolation final. She opened the race with a 26.34 butterfly, followed by a 31.07 backstroke split to reach the wall in 57.41 at the halfway point. Corcoran powered through the breaststroke leg in 36.26 before finishing with a 28.54 freestyle split to secure the top-two finish in the consolation final.
Her performance earned seven team points for Carson-Newman and Honorable Mention All-American honors, awarded to swimmers finishing ninth through 16th at the national championship meet.
