Carson-Newman ranked 17th in latest AFCA Poll

The Carson-Newman football team moved up one spot in both the AFCA and D2football.com polls, following Saturday's 62-12 win over Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Eagles are No. 17 in the AFCA rankings this week, and are the highest voted two-loss team. Carson-Newman is 16th in the D2football.com poll.
The top three teams are identical in both polls, with Grand Valley State holding down the top spot, followed by Abilene Christian and Northwest Missouri State.
Delta State, who upset North Alabama in a Gulf South Conference showdown Thursday night, is the No. 4 team in the D2football.com poll, while Bloomsburg holds that position in the AFCA order.
Wingate is the only other South Atlantic Conference team represented in the rankings this week. The Bulldogs dropped five spots in the AFCA poll to No. 20 after suffering a 32-21 loss to Newberry over the weekend.
Carson-Newman will travel to Brevard this Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
