Eagles 11th in Latest Poll

WACO, TEX. - The Carson-Newman football team remained No. 11 in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll, released Tuesday morning.
The Eagles, who were idle over the weekend, received 396 votes - four short of making the top 10. Carson-Newman will begin its 2008 South Atlantic Conference schedule this Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. contest at Newberry College.
The top 18 teams in this week's AFCA rankings remained the same, though No. 8 Northwest Missouri St. and No. 9 Central Washington swapped positions from the previous poll.
Valdosta State received 20 first place votes to remain in the top spot, followed by Grand Valley St., North Alabama and Abilene Christian, who received two first place votes apiece. Nebraska-Omaha rounded out the top five.
