LANCASTER, Penn.-- Former Carson-Newman Eagle Travis Hake is returning to the Lancaster Barnstormers for the team's second half run, manager Frank Klebe announced today.
Hake was acquired by the Barnstormers in a trade with the York Revolution for Lancaster's rights to a veteran player as part of an earlier deal that sent Dario Delgado to Schaumburg of the Northern League. Hake was hitting .253 in 23 games for the Revolution.
"As soon as I heard York was looking to move an infielder, I wanted to get Travis over here," Klebe said. 'He gives us needed help at several infield positions, and he can really get our offense going and steal some bases."
Hake was voted Barnstormers Co-Player of the Year in 2005, when he played in more games than any other Barnstormer and led the team with 91 runs and 32 doubles. He was also among team and Atlantic League leaders in average (.295), hits (155) and stolen bases (42). Though slowed by a mid-season injury in 2006, Hake still hit .241, including .275 at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
As an Eagle, Hake set the C-N single season stolen base record with 41 swipes in 2000. He was a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection and drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2000.
