Eagles Fall to North Georgia on New Year's Eve

DAHLONEGA, GA - The Carson-Newman men's basketball team spent New Year's Eve on the road Wednesday night as they traveled to North Georgia and were handed a 104-95 defeat.
The Saints had four players score 17 points or more, led by the 20-point efforts of Anthony Rowe and Andre Morgan. Michael Moynihan and LaBrian Lyons each added 17 points, while Brody Langston tossed in 12. Rowe recorded a double-double as he also pulled down 12 rebounds.
Carson-Newman (4-8 overall) had three players reach double figures, led by the 24-point, 10-rebound effort of Joey Cameron (Tuskegee, Ala.). Adam Plavich (Dalton, Ga.) finished with 18 points and Cameron Sharp (Knoxville, Tenn.) 13.
The Eagles shot 45.9 percent (34-74) from the field, including 14-of-33 from three-point range, and grabbed 46 rebounds. North Georgia was 37-of-75 shooting and had 45 boards in the uptempo game. Carson-Newman committed 22 turnovers to the Saints' 17.
The Saints (6-1 overall) had three players reach double figures in the first half as they held a 55-50 advantage at intermission. Morgan had 14 points in the opening 20 minutes. Carson-Newman's first-half effort was led by Cameron with 14, as well.
North Georgia extended its lead to as many as 17 in the second half.
Carson-Newman will return to action Saturday as it travels to Newberry for a South Atlantic Conference matchup at 4 p.m.
