C-N is coming off a heartbreaking 2-0 loss to Coker in which the Eagles outshot the Cobras 27 to seven and 14 to three in shots on goal.
Mars Hill fell 4-0 to Coker on Oct. 11. Likewise, MHU outshot the Cobras 20 to 14 and 10 to eight in shots on goal.
The Mountain Lions and C-N have had varying outcomes against previous opponents. MHU lost only 2-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne and 1-0 to Newberry where C-N fell 3-0 at L-R and 4-0 at Newberry. However, Mars Hill was toppled 4-0 at Wingate, 4-1 against Lincoln Memorial and 1-0 at King; the Eagles dropped their match at Wingate 1-0 after weather caused an early whistle, took LMU into double overtime before giving up a 4-3 decision and took a 3-0 victory over King in their second home match of the year.
Last Saturday, Mars Hill ended its contest with Queens 2-1. MHU's Rachel Blong opened the scoring in the seventh minute off a pass from Jordan Allen. The Royals came back with two second half goals by Ashley Osiecki to steal the win.
The Eagles defeated Mars Hill in overtime last season. Blong took the lead for the Lions in the 41st minute. In the 59th, now senior Susann Kneifel (Germany) tied it up with an unassisted goal. In the seventh minute of overtime, then freshman Megan Peterson (Parrish, Fla.) put in a header off a corner kick taken by Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) for the golden goal.
