Cold-Shooting Eagles Fall to Georgia College at Pioneer Classic

After being tied 6-6 early, junior guard Jared Holmes (Indianapolis, Ind.) buried a jumper to put the Bobcats up two and they never looked back, compiling a 30-13 lead into the break. Holmes would finish with a team-best 14 points to go with four rebounds
Junior Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.) recorded his second double-double in as many games with 10 points and 11 boards.
The first half story for the Bobcats was defense as Georgia College held C-N to just 2-of-20 (.100) shooting from the field and out-rebounded the Eagles 26-16, grabbing eight offensive boards.
The Bobcats shot just .33 percent (10-30) from the field but it was good enough to open up a 17-point lead, led by Holmes' eight first half points.
The 'Cats came out roaring in the second half, jumping out to a 42-13 lead by going on a 12-0 run. The defense in the second half did not let up, allowing the Eagles to only hit 3-of-20 (.150) from the floor. Sophomore Ryan Legates (Marietta, Ga.) caught fire in the second half and finished the game with 11 points on 4-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The Eagles finished 5-of-40 (.125) from the field but managed to get to the line 22 times, making 17. Ishmael Sanders was the leading scorer for C-N with just eight points.
Shooting came scarce for the Bobcats as well, hitting only 12-of-25 (48%) from the charity stripe, and 40 percent (21-53) from the field. GC out-rebounded the Eagles by 13 (44-31), finishing the game with 14 offensive boards. The 'Cats also won the turnover battle 23-15.
