JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Carson-Newman women's tennis team is set to host the regular season opener against Young Harris this weekend at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex at 1 p.m. as both teams to look to rebound from the 2014 campaigns.
The Eagles, who finished 2014 with a 10-12 overall record (3-7 SAC), are picked to finish ninth in the South Atlantic Conference this year and were one of two teams who fell to the Mountain Lions last season.
Carson-Newman will look to its lone senior Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) for leadership and guidance Saturday as the Eagles are experiencing nearly a complete overhaul of last year's squad.
"Half of our line up is new," coach Jean Love said of her 2015 team. "The freshman will need to grow up quick."
East Tennessee natives Catherine Cook (Morristown, TN) and Mallory Jackson (Ewrin, TN) are two of four freshmen who will be looking to provide stability to this Eagle line up.
"Young Harris is a tough opponent," Love said. "We are excited for the challenge ahead."
