Carson-Newman Men’s Tennis lines up to face Coker and E&H on the road.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Men's Tennis lines up to face Coker and E&H on the road.
After the men's team got out of their five-match losing streak with wins over UVA Wise and Hillsdale, the Eagles look to avenge a 6-1 loss to Nebraska-Kearney most recently.
The Eagles Men's Tennis team is 3-8 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. They are tied at 7th in the SAC standings with Coker and Mars Hill at one win apiece.
First up for men's tennis is the Coker Cobras. The Eagles will travel to Hartsville for a blue out at the Coker Tennis Courts.
The Cobras are 7-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Their wins in SAC action came against UVA, whom they beat 4-0, and against Anderson, 4-2. Coker will enter this match on a one-match win streak after the victory against Anderson on Wednesday. They round out a three-game home stretch with the Eagles on Saturday.
During the fall, Coker's Marcio Silva did enough to slot himself #7 in the regional rankings.
C-N is 6-5 against the Cobras all-time and has won the last five matches straight. Last year, the Eagles won 4-0 after all three doubles teams won, and Leonard Baecker took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Joao Pugliese at the six singles line. The last time Carson-Newman lost was back in the 2018-19 season when they suffered a 0-7 loss in Hartsville.
The Eagles will turn around to Tuesday, March 24th when they travel up to the Commonwealth state to face the 0-12 Emory & Henry Wasps. The Wasps were 0-5 in conference action and have not won a match since February 10th of 2024.
Carson-Newman owns the series against Emory & Henry 3-0. Last year, the Eagles took a 4-0 win in Jefferson City. Leonard Baecker again grabbed a 6-0. 6-1 win at fifth singles. C-N was ranked #48 in the nation at the time.
Keegan Glago owns the lowest WTN on the E&H roster at 24.20, but it has been the senior Nathan Spurling that has been asked to play in the one spot for the Wasps. He will likely face Louis Keenan who owns a 16.72 WTN.
Keenan is 3-5 in singles play and is backed by his doubles partner, Max Stollecker, who has the most wins in individual play this season at 5-3. The doubles pair of Stollecker and Keenan is 5-5 on the year. Leonard Baeker 4-2 in singles action and has split time between the 2nd and 3rd line.
First serve against the Cobras is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
