Lady Eagles third after 18 holes at Newberry Invitational

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Carson-Newman women's golf team fired a 337 (+49) to finish in third place through 18 holes at the 36-hole Newberry College Invitational at the Moss Creek Golf Course in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Junior Sara Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) fired a 79 (+1), including a solid 37 on the back nine, to lead the Lady Eagles. She is in fifth with one round to play, four shots back of Florida Tech's Daniela Iacobelli, who shot a 75.
Kennesaw State transfer Jessica Tarbet is in 12th after firing an 82 in the opening round, while Greeneville, Tennessee native Caitlin Fortner is in 15th after shooting 83.
Freshman Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) carded a 93 (+21) for the Lady Eagles fourth posted score.
The final round of the 36-hole event begins Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Moss Creek Golf Course.
