Final round of McAmis Memorial canceled, Lady Eagles claim third place

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- The final round of the 36-hole Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational at the Link Hills Country Club has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
Carson-Newman claimed third place in the event with a team score of 327. The Lady Eagles finished just two shots behind second place Wingate (325) and 17 shots back of tournament champion Belmont Abbey (310). The Crusaders placed four players in the top 10 to win the tournament for the second year in a row.
UNC Pembroke captured fourth place with a team score of 331, followed by Catawba College (336), Queens University of Charlotte (337), Anderson University (340), University of Montevallo (341), Spartanburg Methodist College (345) and host Tusculum College (347) to round out the top 10.
Mars Hill College finished 11th with a 351, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University (353), Presbyterian College (357), Erskine College (367), Lincoln Memorial University (373), Brevard College (389), Tiffin University (392), Concord University (393) and Limestone College (424).
C-N's Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) and Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) both carded 77s (+5) to finish in a tie for fourth place.
Lady Eagle sophomore Caitlin Fortner (Greeneville, Tenn.) turned in an 84 (+12) to finish in a tie for 23rd place, while Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Leah Hagedorn (Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.) both shot 89 (+17).
ETSU's Mayte Vizcarrondo played as an individual and claimed medalist honors with a one-over par 73.
The next stop for the Lady Eagles is the 2009 South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 19 at the Etowah Valley Country Club in Etowah Valley, N.C.
