CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles posted a two-day total of 667 (+91) to take third at the Dana Rader Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, N.C.
Host Pfeiffer University ran away with the team title, winning by 39 strokes. C-N finished 53 strokes back, but only 13 off the second-place pace set by Queens University.
Sophomore Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) turned in a top ten finish with a two-day 164 (79-84), closing at +20 and taking sole possession of eighth. She finished 17 strokes back.
Fellow-sophomore Caitlin Fortner (Greeneville, Tenn.) finished in 10th with a 166 (+22).
Junior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) was one of few players in the field to improve in brutal conditions on Day 2. The Jefferson County product shaved three strokes off her first-day 85 to finish a shot behind Fortner.
Leah Hagedorn (Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.) finished 19th after a second round 86. All four Scoring Lady Eagles finish in the top 16.
Pfeiffer's Brittany Beltran (Concord, NC) took the individual title 72-75-147. Tying for 2nd was Pfeiffer's Charlene Reid (Ballymoney, Ireland) and Queens' Camilla Mallberg (Stockholm, Sweden) six strokes.
C-N returns to action next Monday at the 36-hole Lenoir-Rhyne Chik-Fil-A Invitational in Old Hickory, N.C.
