Cherry captures South Atlantic Conference’s 2025 Elite 23 Award
The South Atlantic Conference office has chosen Blair Cherry as this year’s Elite 23 Award winner for volleyball.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference office has chosen Blair Cherry as this year's Elite 23 Award winner for volleyball.
This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 23 team championship sports at the championship site.
Cherry has excelled in the classroom and on the volleyball court over the last three years, garnering second-team All-SAC recognition this season while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in Biochemistry.
This season, she earned her second All-SAC honor and grabbed a spot on the second team for the second year in a row. Cherry has navigated the Carson-Newman offense to success all season and has orchestrated the C-N offense to a .241 hitting percentage, a mark that is second in the conference. Her 1,036 total assists this season are first in the SAC and 28th in DII. This is her second season in a row that the junior has hit the 1,000 assist mark, and the 16th time in history that a Carson-Newman Eagle has tallied that many in a single season. She also grabbed a career milestone this year against Lincoln Memorial. With her 10th assist in the contest, Cherry officially moved into the 5th spot in career assists in Carson-Newman volleyball history. She is one of six C-N players to dish 2,500 assists over her career. She is also 18th among all active DII setters in career assists.
