Lady Eagles Battle Flames Hard, Can't Beat the Heat
Carson-Newman Women’s Tennis fell on Tuesday giving undefeated Lee its biggest challenge of the season.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Women's Tennis fell on Tuesday giving undefeated Lee its biggest challenge of the season.
Entering Tuesday's match, Lee (4-0) had not allowed a point to an opponent since late October including a few shutouts in exhibition matches.
C-N came out swinging but the Flames were able to burn a little hotter to earn a narrow 4-3 decision over the Eagles.
C-N split singles matches with Lee earning wins from Hala Awad (Cairo, Egypt), Maria del Mar Sarda Marti (Barcelona, Spain), and Leah McBride (Johnson City, Tenn.).

No. 2: Maria Penalver Aguilo (LEE) def. Emma Sanchez Jimenez (C-N) 7-5, 6-3

No. 6: Leah McBride (C-N) def. Vitória Maximiliano (LEE) 6-1, 6-1
Lee swept the doubles point continuing its perfect mark in dual meet doubles this season.
