JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman softball coach Vickee Kazee-Hollifield announced the hiring of former Lady Eagle standout Nancy Branim as assistant coach on Wednesday.
Branim, who was an All-South Atlantic Conference and All-Region performer for the Lady Eagles during her senior season in 1998, returns to her alma mater for a second coaching stint at Mossy Creek.
"It's a pleasure to have her back at Carson-Newman," Hollifield said. "She'll add so much to what we can do as far as recruiting and coaching our outfielders."
Branim spent last season as an assistant softball coach at St. Lucie West Centennial High School in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where she helped lead the team to its first district championship in 10 years.
"I am very excited to be back at Carson-Newman," said Branim, a 1998 graduate of C-N. "I am looking forward to working with coach Hollifield and continue the winning tradition that is Carson-Newman softball."
Prior to joining the St. Lucie West Centennial staff, Branim was an assistant coach with the Lady Eagles for the 2006-07 season. She helped guide C-N to an NCAA Tournament berth that year.
In high school, Branim had a stellar career at Scott High School in Huntsville, Tenn., where she earned All-District and All-District Tournament accolades all four years.
Branim, a native of Robbins, Tenn., joins a Lady Eagle squad that went 37-12 in 2010 and made a SAC record sixth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
