Eagles Rely on Young Contributors, Sit in 4th After Day One at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – In a competitive field featuring multiple division one schools, Carson-Newman is in fourth place after its young talent put in a nice showing in the first round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.

The Eagles were led by freshman Macy Bromley, who sits tied for 8th after shooting a 76 to sit at 5-over after the first round.
"I was really proud of Macy's mental composure today," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "She has matured so much on the course and taken such control of her game and her emotions."
Bromley ended the front nine strong in her first-round performance with a birdie on hole eight to set the tone for the back nine. Bromley notched birdies on holes 14, 15, and 17 to finish at 5-over in the final nine holes of the round.
Alice Thomas slotted in tied for 11th, notching a 77 to finish the day at 6-over. Thomas found consistency in the round, shooting par or below in 13 of the 18 holes, including two birdies on holes eight and 14.
Emery Fisher sits tied for 25th after day one, shooting an 81 to finish at 10-over. Despite three double bogeys, Fisher birdied on hole nine before four straight holes at par to solidify her position in the top 25.
Parker Miller, another young contributor, sits tied for 34th on day one with an 83 in the first round, finishing the day at 12-over. It was a solid start for Miller, shooting par in the first four holes of the round. Despite shooting over par on the next three, Miller shot par on six of the final 11 holes of the day.
Ella Whaley rounds out the Eagles, shooting a 95 in the first round to finish the day at 24-over. With two rounds to go, Whaley and the other Eagles will have an opportunity to climb the leaderboard in a tight and competitive field.
After a solid day one from some young contributors, the Eagles will look to build on the positives tomorrow at 9 AM at the Sevierville Golf Club.
