Trio of Lady Eagles earn CSC Academic All-District honors

This season, Carson-Newman places three more players on the list, Emily Gonzalez (Lenoir City, Tenn.), Karli Haworth (Maryville, Tenn.) and Keeleigh Rogers. For all three players, it is their first career academic honor.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 14, 2026.
Gonzalez has been a standout player in her senior season. She has averaged more than 11 points per game all season long while shooting 40% or better from the field and from three-point range. The third team All-SAC guard has scored in double figures 18 times and has the led the team in assists 10 different times. Defensively, she has recorded three or more steals in 11 different games this season. Her 71 steals are fourth-most in a season in program history. The Bearden product erupted for a career-high 22 points versus Catawba earlier this season on November 29.
Haworth upped her scoring average for the third straight season and has turned into one of C-N's top three-point weapons. The junior guard entered the year with 30 career triples and has more than doubled that by drilling 35 this season. She has made 38% of her threes and has made at least three triples in five different games this season. Haworth went bonkers against Catawba on January 24, making six of her seven shots and going five of six from three for a career-high 18 points.
Rogers rounds out C-N's trio of academic all-district selections. The redshirt-junior forward has done just about everything for the Lady Eagles this season. She leads the SAC in assists with 136, the seventh-most in a single-season in program history. Rogers has dished out three assists or more in 25 of the team's 34 games this season. Along with her elite passing skills, the Knoxville native has also been C-N's best rebounder with 279 this season. Her 214 defensive rebounds are the second-most in a season in program history. Her defensive abilities have been on the full display as well. She has produced 12 different games with at least steals and has 70 for the year. Her 70 takeaways are the fifth-most in a season.
Eighth-seeded Carson-Newman competes in the Elite Eight Tuesday night versus top-seeded Grand Valley State.
