Lady Eagles Defeat Lincoln Memorial, 8-1

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. - The Carson-Newman women's tennis team defeated conference rival Lincoln Memorial University, 8-1. The Lady Eagles improve to 7-2 overall, 5-1 in conference play.
In doubles play, the Lady Eagles took a quick lead, winning the number two and three seeds. The Railsplitters took the the number one seed, Sophia Lopez and Ann-Sophie Inderherberger defeated Amanda Bartlett and Taryn Cappadona, 9-8. Liz Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.) and senior Cassie Moulton (Maryville, Tenn.) took down Emily Osborne and Katie Oliver, 8-0. Emily Sorah (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman Kylie Elliott (Maryville, Tenn.) won the number three seed, 8-3 over LMU's Melanie Smith and Mandy Mills.
Carson-Newman swept singles play. Bartlett defeated Lopez in three, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3. In the second seed match, Sneed took down Inderherberger, 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Elliott beat Oliver, 6-3, 6-1. Cappadona passed Osborne, 6-2, 6-2. Sorah and Moulton picked up two more points for the Lady Eagles, defeating Smith and Mills respectively.
Carson-Newman returns to the court on Saturday, April 4 against Newberry College in Jefferson City. Match time is 11 a.m.
