Lady Eagles Bounce Mars Hill, 5-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles won the first three singles matches to knock off Mars Hill Tuesday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center at the University of Tennessee, 5-1. The match was moved indoors after rain moved into the Jefferson City area.
The Lady Eagles improve to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in South Atlantic Conference play, while Mars Hill falls to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in SAC play
Seniors Cassie Moulton (Maryville, Tenn.) and Emily Sorah (Bristol, Tenn.) each picked up two points, winning in both doubles and singles. Sorah and freshman Kylie Elliott (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted a shutout at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-0.
Mars Hill grabbed its lone point at No. 1 doubles as Erika Pinate and Patty La Rovere beat Amanda Bartlett and Taryn Cappadonna, 8-6.
Cappadonna would bounce back with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Carson-Newman returns to action on Friday April 1 against Lincoln Memorial University. Match time is 2 p.m. in Jefferson City.
