Lady Eagles defeat North Greenville, 8-1

Greer, S.C. - The Carson-Newman women's tennis team defeated North Greenville 8-1, improving to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. North Greenville falls to 1-1.
The Lady Eagles began the match with a sweep of the doubles competition and took five of six singles matches for the victory.
C-N started off with a win from the No. 1 doubles Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.). They defeated North Greenville's Salem Erni and Katherine Shaw 8-2. In the No. 2 doubles match-up Kylie Elliott (Maryville, Tenn.) and Taryn Cappdsona (Kennesaw, Ga.) defeated Cassie Curtis and Cherie Curtis with an 8-5 victory. Finishing up the sweep in doubles play were C-N seniors Emily Sorah (Bristol, Tenn.) and Cassie Moulton (Maryville, Tenn.), with an 8-4 win over the Lady Crusaders Sarah Lynn and Courtney Stangit.
The Lady Eagles took the top five flights in singles action. Bartlett defeated Erni 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 match and No. 2 Sneed took down Shaw 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 3 spot, Elliott got past Curtis 6-2, 6-0. Cappadona finished the No. 4 match defeating Lynn 6-3, 6-3. Senior Emily Sorah wrapped up the Lady Eagle win with a victory over Curtis 6-0, 6-0.
The final flight belonged to the Lady Crusaders. Tyrpak slid past Walker in a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 victory.
The Lady Eagles return to action at home on Saturday, March 7, against Alabama-Huntsville. The match begins at 2:30 p.m.
