Different lineup for C-N leads to 7-0 loss to Lee

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Eagles played without conference player of the week Hala Awad in singles and couldn't step up to the plate against the Flames.
The energy was quiet today from the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex, as both the men's and women's teams played an out-of-conference and out-of-region opponent in Lee.
Despite that, it was a competitive doubles match for the women. At the first line, Hala Awad and Abinaya Sweeton fell in a 6-3 decision while Maria del Mar Sarda Marti and Kira Baacke lost 6-4.
Leah McBride and Mar Fraile came up big for C-N at third doubles, though, with a 6-4 victory.
C-N's usual one rested in this non-conference battle, so freshman Kerrigan Speirs played a slot up in the match against the Flames. Speirs took games from the #20 player in the nation Rima Yoshida, but did fall 6-2, 7-5 in the match.
Kira Baacke fell 6-2, 6-2 at the second line, while Sindija Manovska went 6-2, 6-1 in a loss at third singles.
Leah McBride saw a three-match singles win streak snapped with a battle of a 6-3, 6-4 loss. Right behind her at fifth singles, Abinaya Sweeton dropped to 2-3 overall in singles with a 6-2, 6-0 loss.
Andrea Aguiar kept things close at the six spot, narrowly dropping the match 6-4, 7-6 (6-4).
With the loss the Eagles move to 6-9 on the year and have lost the last two matches straight. They will look to right the ship when they play Tusculum on Thursday in Greenville. First serve between the Eagles and Pioneers is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
