Bailey goes back-to-back as SAC, TSWA weekly honoree
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman freshman utility player Macauley Bailey (Cross Plains, Tenn.) has swept the SAC Varsity Gems Player of the Week and Tennessee Sportswriters’ Association State Player of the Week honors for a second consecutive week.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman freshman utility player Macauley Bailey (Cross Plains, Tenn.) has swept the SAC Varsity Gems Player of the Week and Tennessee Sportswriters' Association State Player of the Week honors for a second consecutive week.
Both organizations announced their weekly laurels Tuesday morning.
Bailey is the Eagles' first player or pitcher of the week to earn back-to-back weekly laurels since Lacie Rinus earned back-to-back pitcher of the week honors on March 28 and April 3, 2017.
The nation's leader in RBI continued her torrid pace running her hitting streak to 12. She scored a run in all four games en route to hitting .643 with a .706 on-base percentage and .929 slugging percentage. She drove in 11 runs on the week.

Bailey has driven in a run in 11 of 12 games for the month of March and had multi-hit efforts in three of her last four games, and six of her last eight.
The Cross Plains, Tenn., native posted two hits and three RBIs along with a run scored in the first of two games against UVA-Wise and was 4-for-4 with four RBI in the second contest versus the Cavaliers, including a two-run double.
The freshman singled home a run and scored once in the first game of a doubleheader against Newberry College and posted two hits with a solo homer, three RBIs and two runs scored in the nightcap. Bailey is batting .448 with eight doubles, 10 home runs and 22 runs scored in 30 contests. She leads all NCAA divisions with 48 RBI.
