Freeman, Baiunco net Bojangles Athlete of the Week honors
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman track and field's Randall Freeman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and women's golf's Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) have been named the Bojangles Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman track and field's Randall Freeman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and women's golf's Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) have been named the Bojangles Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
Carson-Newman senior golfer Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) finished her collegiate career with a final round 75 and a second-place at the SAC Championships. Her performance propelled her team to a come-from-behind win for the program's third SAC Championship since 2009.
Baiunco recorded three rounds in the 70s at Sevierville Golf Club with her low score coming in Tuesday's final round. She also recorded scores of 76 and 79 during the first two rounds. Baiunco was named to the first team All-Tournament team.
Carson-Newman senior track and field athlete Randall Freeman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) garnered SAC Field Athlete of the Year honors after his performance at the SAC Championships at Lenior-Rhyne's Irwin Belk Track. Freeman competed in six events of the span of the two-day event and took home two wins.
The senior earned ninth in the men's high jump, first in the javelin throw, seventh in the men's long jump, third in men's discus and triple jump and first in the men's shot put to finish it off. After multiple trips to the medal stand to earn his honor.
