Eagles Victorious Over Lincoln Memorial, 5-4

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. - The Carson-Newman men's tennis team defeated Lincoln Memorial, 5-4. The Eagles improve to 3-6 overall, 3-3 in South Atlantic Conference play.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in doubles play. Carson-Newman took the number one and three matches. Rodolfo Schwarz (Brazil) and Giuseppe Schwarz (Brazil) took the number one seed from Ganns and Goosen, 8-5. Adriano Kira and Trent Slagle defeated Pauko and Azabo, 8-2 at the number three seed.
C-N was led by Adriano Kira (Brazil) and Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.), winning their doubles and both singles match. The pair added three points to the Eagle effort. In singles play, Slagle came back from a set and 5-2 second set deficit to win the match with a 6-1 score in the thrid set.
Sophomore Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.) won the decisive 5th team point, defeating Zack Jones of LMU, 6-1, 6-3.
The Eagles will be back on the court Saturday, April 4 at Carson-Newman against Newberry College. Match time is 11 a.m.
