GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carson-Newman Swimming racks up multiple podium finishes following day three of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Championships.
After day three of the SAC swimming Championships the Eagles had four swims that earned podium finishes. The team ended the day with two gold place finishes, one silver and one bronze.
Overall standings currently have Carson-Newman slotted in the three-spot on both men's and women's sides. On the men's side, Wingate sits atop the competition with a score of 902.5 and Catawba at 694. C-N has a score of 642 with the next closest team being Lenoir-Rhyne at 307.
The women's squad ended the day with a score of 575, falling behind first place Wingate with 936 and Catawba at 859. The closest team to the Eagles is Mars Hill with a score of 273.
Starting the day off strong on the men's side, Daniel de Oliveira put together an electric swim in the 100-yard butterfly with a first place finish time of 47.37. Oliveira's swim was good enough for a NCAA DII "B" cut time. Swimmers Will Humphreys, Asger Hartvig, Christian Balint and Tyler Schehr capped off the day with a silver medal finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
The Eagles second gold medal of the evening came by the way of Megan Corcoran finishing with a first place time of 4:24.05. Corcoran's performance was good enough for a NCAA DII "B" cut time. Women's swimming racked up some more hardware after swimmers Sarah Covington, Breana Belcher, Martina Ivanova and Olivia Kerr-Muir. The squad finished the event in a time of 3:47.63.
Carson-Newman Swimming continues with day four of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Championships tomorrow, Feb. 7 with prelims starting at 10am and finals kicking off at 5pm.
