Eagles Set to Face Emory & Henry and Milligan in First Home Meet of the Season
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – In the first official home meet for the Eagles in the 24-2025 season, Carson-Newman welcomes Emory & Henry and Milligan to the Maddox Student Activities Center (MSAC) on Saturday, Nov. 2nd beginning at 11:00 a.m.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – In the first official home meet for the Eagles in the 24-2025 season, Carson-Newman welcomes Emory & Henry and Milligan to the Maddox Student Activities Center (MSAC) on Saturday, Nov. 2nd beginning at 11:00 a.m.
"It's a great opportunity for us to race at home which is always a great environment," said head coach Ben Young. "To have both teams here to do a double duel adds to the excitement and atmosphere. With it being homecoming this Saturday, we hope to see fans stop by and watch a few of the races and support this team. We want people to see what Carson--Newman Swimming is all about."
The Eagles faced off against Emory & Henry earlier this season on the road in Ewing, Va. In the first SAC contest of the season, Carson-Newman defeated the Wasps in a score of 261- 104.
The Eagles men's team secured a dominant win over the Wasps with a score of 140-39. Junior swimmer Arthur Gluzman had a standout performance in the 100-meter freestyle as well as Asger Hartvig with a first place performance in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:17.49.
The men's team saw notable finishes from Jack Herbert in the 400-meter freestyle (4:26.28), Jake Sell in the 100-meter butterfly (58.80), and Jakov Igrec in the 200-meter backstroke (2:17.10).
Women's swimming saw top performance from Megan Corcoran in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:27.99 and Maria Tirulli with a first place finish in the 100-Meter butterfly in a final time of 1:05.97.
Other standout finishes for the women's team included Olivia Muir in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.45), Emma Bowling in the 100-meter backstroke (1:07.26), and Breanna Belcher in the 100-meter backstroke (1:14.62).
The last time Carson-Newman took on Milligan was on the road Nov. 11, 2022 where the Eagles took down the Buffaloes in a score of 258-152.
In the upcoming meet this Saturday, men's swimmer Arthur Gluzman looks to make a statement against the Wasps and Buffaloes.
"The team feels better at the end of this week," said Gluzman. "I hope to see fast swims, fast times, and I hope this meet will be a great one. Personally, I would like to increase my season times, but I want to improve on my times from the three meets that we've had so far."
On the women's side, senior Maria Tirulli looks to build upon the success of the previous meets this season in the match this weekend.
"It's going to be the first home meet since Blue v. Orange so we are all excited and ready to go," said Tirulli. "I'm looking forward to having two teams coming and having fast swims. Being a senior, the season has been really fun for me, especially being home where the environment is going to be super loud, and I know we're a;ll excited for that."
Carson-Newman takes on Emory & Henry and Milligan in the first home meet of the season. Swimmers take their positions at 11:00 a.m. in the Maddox Student Activities Center on Nov. 2nd.
