Siqueira the difference in 1-0 victory at Brevard
BREVARD, N.C. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (6-4-1, 4-1-1 South Atlantic Conference) defeated the Brevard Tornados (1-9-2, 1-5-0 South Atlantic Conference) by a 1-0 score on Wednesday evening. Junior midfielder Lucas Siqueira provived the lone goal in the victory, scoring on an unassisted shot in the 68th minute of the match as he collected a rebound of a free kick off a wall of defenders and then shot past the Brevard goalkeeper Jack Shaw to the right in what would be the game-winning goal of the match.

The Eagles have now won their last two matches, and are 2-0 in the month of October.
The goal is the first in a Carson-Newman uniform for Siqueira, in addition to his first in the 2012 season.
Carson-Newman goalkeeper Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, France) collected the shutout victory with the win. Le Guevel didn't allow any goals and made six saves in what is his second consecutive shutout and his fourth this season.
Le Guevel has not allowed a goal in the past 182 minutes and 44 seconds, dating back to the loss to Young Harris on Sept. 29.
The Eagles outshot the Tornados 14-10 in the match, while Carson-Newman also had the edge in corner kicks at 5-3.
Le Guevel earned the shutout win while Shaw took the loss, allowing the lone goal while making five saves in the match.
Carson-Newman's Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) led the Eagles in shots with five, two of them being on goal. Emmanuel Aboagye (Ghana) also made three shots while both Siqueira and Jake Fielder (Talbott, Tenn.) made two each.
Carson-Newman will next play on Saturday Oct. 13 at Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, N.C. The match begins at 7:30 p.m., and live stats will be available.
