Eagles clock in in fifth in first regional rankings
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman football finds itself in fifth place in Super Region II in the regional rankings released Tuesday following the Eagles 31-10 victory over UNC Pembroke Saturday.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman football finds itself in fifth place in Super Region II in the regional rankings released Tuesday following the Eagles 31-10 victory over UNC Pembroke Saturday.
Carson-Newman has a 5-2 record against Division II competition; the Eagles are one of five SAC teams ranked.
Miles tops the rankings for Super Region II at 7-1. Mars Hill is the only SAC team ahead of Carson-Newman with a 5-1 mark against DII competition. The Lions are 5-3 this season – MHC lost to a pair of FCS opponents to start the season.
Two Gulf South Conference Schools in West Alabama and Valdosta State sit directly in front of the Eagles with 6-2 overall records. West Alabama is 4-1 versus Division II opponents, while all of Valdosta State is 5-2 against D-II schools.
If the season were to end today, Carson-Newman would go to the playoffs.
