Duncan named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman junior kicker Curt Duncan (Morristown, Tenn.) picked up SAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after turning in a 17-point, four field goal performance in a 47-23 win against Lenoir-Rhyne. Duncan’s 17 points are a school record for a Carson-Newman kicker. The junior connected on field goals from 25, 28, 43 and 50 yards and nailed five extra points. The 50-yarder is a career long for Duncan.

When Duncan pushed the 50-yarder through the uprights, it marked the first time a Carson-Newman kicker had put one through from half-a-hundred since 1997. Duncan became the first C-N kicker to hit four field goals in a game since the 1984 season.
Duncan's ranked fourth in the nation in points per game with 12.5. The Morristown West grad is the only kicker in the top 20.
The Eagles will play the reigning offensive and defensive players of the week when they travel to Newberry to tangle with the Wolves.
The Wolves' W.T. Murden, the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, led undefeated Newberry to a key early-season conference win over previously-unbeaten Catawba by throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns. His day included a 61-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter after Catawba had built a 14-point halftime lead.
Meanwhile, the Wolves' Alstevis Squirewell was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week after scoring what proved to be the game-winning touchdown in Newberry's victory over Catawba. With the score tied at 28 early in the fourth quarter, Squirewell picked off a B.J. Sherrill pass and returned it 41 yards for the score, giving the Wolves a lead they wouldn't surrender.
