Bio
2024 (Freshman): Played all games but one in her freshman season. Her 292 kills was second among Eagles players by 1 and she landed 6th among all other SAC players. A consistent presence at the net, Hurst logged 16 games with double-digit kills highlighted by a career high 19 kills in her third game in an Eagles uniform against Union (Tenn.). She also led the team and was top 10 in the SAC in hitting percentage (.270). Her team leading 102 total blocks landed tied for third among all SAC players. Her prowess at the net was demonstrated against Anderson on Nov. 15, when she became the first Eagle in two years to collect over 10 blocks in a match and was one shy of a single game record for Carson-Newman. Her dominance over the season earned her multiple accolades including SAC Freshman of the Year. She is the first Eagle to earn the honor since Natalie Harris in 2015. The AVCA also recognized her as the Southeast Region Freshman of the Year. She is the first Eagle to recieve that honor.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played under Head Coach Jessica Maxey where she thrived being named to First Team All-District her senior year, and a two-time winner of the region's Hitter of the Year Award in her sophomore and junior years. She racked up an impressive 1258 kills in her time as a Grizzly surpassing the 1000 kill mark on Sept. 11 of her senior year. While a star on the volleyball court, Hurst returned to the gym and was a member of the Grainger girl's basketball team. She was also a star academically finishing in the top 10 percent of her graduating class.
PERSONAL: Her sister, Millie, plays softball at Johnson University and her brother, Jeb, plays baseball at Virginia-Wise.

College Sports Communicators announced their 2025 Academic All-District® teams on Tuesday. Blair Cherry, Emerson Ahsmuhs, Maddie Hurst, and Trinity Hafey represented C-N on this year’s teams.
After a first-set victory for C-N, Flagler’s offense powered through Carson-Newman’s tough serving to wrap up the Eagles’ first trip to the NCAA Tournament in three years.
Based on the combination of individual performances and coaches' votes, Emerson Ahmuhs and Maddie Hurst earn first team honors, Blair Cherry picks up second team accolades, and Annie Dziczkowski collects third team recognition.
The Eagles used every weapon to collect their first SAC tournament victory in three years and travel to the tournament site on Friday against #15 Wingate.
In the last week of weekly honors from the SAC, Maddie Hurst picks up offensive player of the week following a record breaking hitting percentage performance.
The Eagles grabbed the victory against the Newberry Wolves in four sets and will host UVA Wise in the SAC quarterfinals following a 14-4 conference record.

As the count down to the return of Carson-Newman volleyball ensues, it’s only fitting to get an inside look at the 2025-2026 Eagles volleyball roster. This marks the second part in a series of position previews for Carson-Newman volleyball. This edition will feature the outside hitters.
The South Atlantic Conference recognized sophomore middle Maddie Hurst on the preseason all-conference team and has named both Emerson Ahsmuhs and Blair Cherry players to watch in the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Head Coach Cat Collins of Carson-Newman volleyball has announced the two new faces joining the staff for the 2025-2026 season; Jessica Moore will join the staff as the new full-time assistant coach and Jordyn Hamm will round out the staff as the graduate assistant coach.
