JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman beach volleyball makes its second road trip of the season to Lynchburg, Va. for a two-day meet at the Liberty University Invitational.
The Eagles will take part in a four-team meet against Richard Bland, Lancaster Bible College, Lynchburg and Liberty who are hosting the weekend.
The Eagles are coming off of a challenging weekend at Coastal Carolina where the team split the meet going 2-2 overall. Both losses came against Division I opponents Coastal Carolina and College of Charleston.
A bright spot from the road trip was Eagles pair Morgan Foy and Camryn Ehlers being named South Atlantic Conference Pair of the Week. That marked the Eagles second week in a row earning the honor with Emerson Ahsmuhs and Trinity Hafey winning after the opening weekend in Mossy Creek.
C-N's first test of the weekend will start against the Richard Bland Statesmen slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. at the East Athletic Complex in Lynchburg, Va. This marks the first ever meeting between the Eagles and the Statesmen in beach volleyball. The Statesmen currently sit with an 0-2 record with both losses coming by the way of fellow SAC school Catawba College.
Later in the afternoon, Carson-Newman takes the courts against its second opponent, the Charges of Lancaster Bible College Club Team at 2:00 p.m. The Chargers have yet to begin their season due to opening matches against Richard Bland getting postponed. This will be the first meeting between C-N and Lancaster Bible College. The Chargers started their Beach Volleyball Club Team in 2024 where the team ended the season with a 2-10 record.
Saturday, March. 1 opens the second day of the Liberty University Invitational where Carson-Newman takes on the Lynchburg Hornets at 8:00 a.m.at the Liberty Mountain Intramural Courts. C-N took on the Hornets earlier this season in the opening weekend in Jefferson City, where the Eagles won the match 4-1. The Hornets have not played a match since their trip to Mossy Creek due to cancellations. Carson-Newman is the only team to defeat Lynchburg this season giving the Hornets a 3-1 record.
The last matchup of the weekend comes when the Eagles go head-to-head against the Liberty Flames. C-N opened the 2024 season taking on Liberty where the Flames won a close match with a final of 3-2. Liberty currently sits with a 7-4 record and are 3-0 at home this season.
