Geurin, Siwiec to be honored at senior day doubleheader vs St. Andrews

Seniors Lindsey Geurin and Morgan Siwiec will be honored in a special ceremony before the match at 1:30 PM at the Carson-Newman beach volleyball courts, before the Eagles play a pair of matches against the Knights, beginning at 2:00 PM. Admission to both matches is free for all fans.
In her three years in Mossy Creek, Geurin has made an imeasurable impact forthe Eagles. She is the only Carson-Newman beach volelyball player to hold a winning record inthree straight seasons. Guerin has also recorded back-to-back ten-win seasons on the court,going 10-8 in 2021 and currently holds an 11-6 record this season. Geurin made history earlierthis year at Catawba, recording her 23rd career victory and becoming the program's all-time wins leader. Geurin currently holds a career record of 27-16.
Siwiec has been a dedicated player to the Carson-Newman beach volleyball program for four seasons. That persistence has paid off this season as she hasrecorded her first 10-win season in her career. Siwiec and her partner Alanis Mendez collected a 21-2 first set win earlier this season over the State College of Florida, the largest set-win of the season. Siwiec recorded her 20th career win against Catawba earlier this year, and is currently second behind Geurin for most career wins with 23.
"Both Lindsey and Morgan not only bring us skills on the court but leadership off of it," says head beach volleyball coach Cat Lind. "Thye have had a great experience in their final year breaking records but we're really going to miss their personalities next season."
The Eagles enter the match at 10-8 overall after going 0-4 at the Bear Beach Bash. C-N dropped a pair of matches to Division-I Mercer and Jacksonville on the first day before falling to the State College of Florida and Saint Leo on Sunday in a pair of close contests. The pair of Siwiec and Mendez went 2-0 on the final day of the tournament.
"Last weekend was rough," says Lind. "We learned a lot against tough competition. We learned a lot about our mental game and when to take risks and hopefully this week we can find our confidence again."
Carson-Newman can make history with a pair of wins over the Knights on Thursday. With two victories, the Eagles will pass the 2016 team that went 11-12 for the most wins in a single season. Just one C-N team has finished the year with a winning record, as the 2020 team finished 6-1 before the season was canceled due to COVID.
Saint Andrews enters the match with an 8-18-1 record, going 8-2 in their last ten matches. However, the Knights are 0-6-1 this season against Division-II competition, including a 5-0 loss to Carson-Newman in Laurinburg on Mar. 4. The Eagles won every match in two-straight sets.
Carson-Newman is 3-0 all-time against the Knights. The two teams first met a year ago to the day on Mar. 31, 2021 in Mossy Creek with the Eagles picking up a pair of 5-0 victories.
