Beach Volleyball earns AVCA Team Academic Award
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Carson-Newman beach volleyball earned The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season announced by the organization on Monday, July 19.

Started for the 1992-93 academic year, the award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The Eagles are part of a record-breaking 46 beach volleyball teams to be named to the team.
All 13 players on the roster recorded a GPA of at least 3.0 with four posting an average of 3.7 or better. Pilar Daugherty (Las Cruces, N.M.) led the way with a flawless 4.0 tally while Lindsey Geurin (Clearwater Beach, Fla.) and Piper Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) were not far behind with a 3.97 and 3.94 mark respectively.
Carson-Newman finished the 2021 season with the second-most wins in program history and recorded the program's first ever win over Tusculum, a 3-1 victory in Jefferson City.
