Men's Golf tied for 11th after first round of Currahee Invitational
Carson-Newman men’s golf was able to complete the desired 36 holes of golf, before darkness postponed the remainder of the second round.
TOCCOA, GA. – Carson-Newman men's golf was able to complete the desired 36 holes of golf, before darkness postponed the remainder of the second round.
The tournament will continue tomorrow morning with the completion of the second round, followed by the final round of 18 holes.
"Not a great day for us in a very slow and long opening round," Carson-Newman head coach Randy Wylie said. "Unfortunately, we will be playing four aganist five in the event, as Elliot MacGregor had a wrist injury during the first nine holes. Most groups only got in about 30 of 36 holes, as play was slow on this long and hard golf course. I am expecting better tomorrow."
After the first round, C-N is in a tie for 11th place. The Eagles only sit eight strokes outside of 4th place.
Senior Jake Mynatt had the lowest opening round for C-N with a 2-over 74.
Graduate student Hayden Hunneke carded an opening round 3-over 75.
Junior Luke Stock followed in behind Hunneke and Myantt with a 4-over 76 in the first round.
In his first action with the Eagles, Steven Haremski scored an 11-over 83 in his first round.
C-N's Elliot MacGregor withdrew in the first round. He was unable to complete h his opening round due to a wrist injury.
Anderson is in 1st after a team score of 284, 4-under par in the opening round. North Georgia is in second place after a 291-team score in the opening rund. Lincoln Memorial posted a 293-team score for third place
Action continues tomorrow at 8:30 am.
