Multiple Eagles on Podium at SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships
Carson-Newman Track and Field took home a third-place finish on the men’s side and an eighth-place finish on the women’s side at the 2025 SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Carson-Newman Track and Field took home a third-place finish on the men's side and an eighth-place finish on the women's side at the 2025 SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Eagles took home two gold medals with Sydney McCarty (Sevierville, Tenn.) capturing gold in the Women's Long Jump on Saturday and Amine Kasmi (Brussels, Belgium) standing atop the podium in the Men's 200m with a time of 21.63.
Kasmi was also named the Men's Track Athlete of the Meet. He collected 12 team points, ten in the 200m and two from his leg in the silver-medaling Men's 4x400m team.
Rylan Jordan (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named Freshman of the Year earning two silver medals in the Men's 400m and Men's 4x400 Relay.
Favour Ekpekpe (Nigeria) stood next to Kasmi earning silver in the same event with a 21.74. Isaiah Olson of Tusculum rounds out the podium with the bronze finish.
Andre Morrison (St. Catherine, Jamaica) earned the top qualifying position in the Men's 60m but earned bronze in Sunday's final sharing a podium with two athletes from Catawba.
Sade De Sousa (Namibia) matched Morrison in the Women's 60m with a third-place podium finish with a 7.56.
In addition to Jordan winning the 400m on the men's side, Tytiana Wilson (St. Petersburg, Fla.) earned bronze in her signature event, the Women's 400m collecting a time of 57.51.
The Eagles were only able to earn two medals in the field on the men's side with silver medals being earned from Oluwafemi Richards in the Men's High Jump clearing a height of 1.99m, and Oluwatimi Williams in the Men's Shot Put with a distance of 16.10m, which also breaks the school record set earlier this season.
Colten Lee (Knoxville, Tenn.) broke his own school record in the Men's Mile with an NCAA converted time of 4:10.37.
Finally, the Men's 4x400 Relay earned a team silver medal finishing in 3:21.51 finishing just behind the team representing Lenoir-Rhyne.
Carson-Newman Track and Field looks ahead to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships from March 13-15 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind.
