Lady Eagles Finish Season As Nation's Top Team In Blocks

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Head Coach Shannon Mincey and freshman Nikki James will be honored at halftime of Carson-Newman's men's basketball game against Catawba on Wednesday night.
Mincey's Lady Eagles wrapped up the season as D-II's statistical champion in blocks per game (3.09/gm.).
James (Cookeville, Tenn.) finished the season ranked 5th-nationally and as South Atlantic Conference leader in blocks per game (1.51). She started every game as a freshman and was named to the All-SAC Freshman Team for 2007.
In addition to being a volleyball standout, James is also a member of the basketball team.
The Lady Eagles finished the season 23-11 and reached the SAC Tournament final.
