Eagles drop four-setter to Wingate
WINGATE, N.C. – Carson-Newman (8-10, 2-7) won the first set against Wingate (16-2, 7-2 SAC) but the Bulldogs stormed back behind a furious offensive performance to win 22-25, 31-29, 25-14, 25-17. Four Bulldogs finished with double digit kills, led by Anna Hilton’s 17 to go along with a .471 attack percentage. Wingate hit .307 as a team for the match.

Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) pick up 36 digs for the Eagles on the back row. The senior is averaging 8.66 d/s over the Eagles past two matches.
"I have a group of great players," Carson-Newman head coach Shannon Mincey said. "We aren't going to diminish such a strong connected team because of our current conference ranking."
Setter Kristen Pickett (Cleveland, Tenn.) came a dig away from picking up her fourth double-double in the last five matches. The sophomore dished out 52 assists to go along with her nine digs.
Emily Schultz (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with a team high 13 kills, leading the way for the Eagles for the first time this season. Lauren Santarelli (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Sabina Papala (Laziska Gorne, Poland) followed with 12 and 11 respectively.
The Eagles finished their six match road trip 3-3. Carson-Newman returns home to face off against Anderson and Newberry Oct. 19 and 20 at Holt Fieldhouse.
