Burns inks deal with Burnley FC
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women’s soccer alumna Jackie Burns has signed a two-year contract with Burnley F.C. in England.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's soccer alumna Jackie Burns has signed a two-year contract with Burnley F.C. in England.
The Northern Ireland international agreed to a two-year deal with the Clarets.
The goalkeeper has spent time with BK Hacken in Sweden and Calgary Wild in Canada. Her English experience has come with Reading in the Barclays Women's Super League and Bristol City of the BWSL2.
Internationally, Burns has made 64 appearances and counting for Northern Ireland's Senior team and played in all three of their 2022 UEFA Women's Euro group stage matches.
Burns is one of the best goalkeepers Carson-Newman women's soccer has produced. She holds the single-season records for save percentage (.889), goals against average (0.44), most wins (21), and most shutouts (14). Her 30 career shutouts is the most by a goalkeeper in program history. The winningest goalkeeper in program history was a three-time All-SAC player and a two-time United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region selection.
