DAVIE, Fla. - After shooting a seven-over 78 in the second round, Maeve Cummins is down eight spots to a tie for 44th overall at the NCAA South Regional.
The senior opened her day on the back-nine at the Grande Oaks Golf Club, shooting a two-over 37 with bogeys on the 13th and 16th holes. Cummins then bogeyed the second, sixth and seventh holes before finishing the day with a double bogey on the ninth. The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native went five-over on the front-nine.
It is just the third time this season that Cummins has shot a 78 in a single round, her worst round of the season. At both events, Cummins went on to record a top-20 finish, finishing tied for 17th at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate and tied for 14th at the Lady Bearcat Invitational.
Cummins is tied with six other golfers for the 44th spot with a two-round, 13-over, 155 score. She is sitting above five other nationally ranked individuals, including three golfers that entered the tournament ranked higher than her.
Ebba Hellman of Limestone sits in first place with a one-under, 144 two-round score.
Cummins will close out her time in the sunshine state tomorrow, May 4, for the final round of the NCAA South Regional. Cummins tees off at 9:50 AM, with live results available here.
