JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - For the fifth straight year, Carson-Newman begins conference play 1-0.
The Eagles contested with Lincoln Memorial for their 66th meeting this afternoon. C-N took the match in five, winning the first, third, and fifth sets. In a highly contested final set, the Eagles returned from an 8-2 deficit to take the final score 15-13.
"Any coach would be proud of their team coming back to win after being down 2-8 in the fifth." says coach Tiernan, "We stayed disciplined and got it done and I couldn't be happier with our resiliency tonight."
Carson-Newman took set 1 (25-22), lost in the second (22-25), and came back in the third (25-19). They dropped set four to LMU (20-25) but came back in the end of the fifth (15-13).
