Gruenenfelder Named SAC Player Of The Week
Oct. 23, 2007
ROCK HILL, SC - Carson-Newman's Morgan Gruenenfelder has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the second time Gruenenfelder has won the award.
Gruenenfelder, a freshman midfielder from Sweetwater, scored three goals to give Carson-Newman two crucial region wins as the 2007 regular season winds to a close. Gruenenfelder scored the Eagles' third goal against Lincoln Memorial, launching a 20-footer past the LMU keeper in the 77th minute for the final margin of victory. On Saturday at Flagler, Gruenenfelder scored C-N's first goal in the third minute of the game, then intercepted a Flagler pass in the 77th minute, took two dribbles, and scored a goal in the top right corner of the net to secure the 4-1 victory. Gruenenfelder now has ten goals in her rookie season.
The conference's eight-member institution's sports information directors select the 2007 SAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
