Carson-Newman Women Claim Title, Men Finish Third at Tusculum Invitational

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman women's cross country team captured the title at the Tusculum Invitational, held Saturday morning at the Greene Valley Development Center.
The Lady Eagles edged Milligan College for the title with 42 points courtesy of a tie-break, placing three runners in the top 10 including the individual winner Aubrey Morris with a time of 19:07.0. Other top ten finishers for C-N included Tiffany Winchell (22:01.5- eighth place) and Cara Hawkins (22:06.2- ninth place).
In the men's meet, Carson-Newman finished as a close third with 62 points, placing two runners in the top 10 as Chris Cowan-Banker (30:31.4) and Jordan Backus (30:41.8) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. The Eagles were edged out by UVA-Wise and Milligan, who finished first and second.
Both Carson-Newman Cross Country teams will be back in action on September 6. The Eagles and Lady Eagles will participate in the Eye Opener in Spartanburg, S.C.
