News mentions
Everyone hears that the season will fly by, it’ll be over before you know it. And even though that had been the case for all of my seasons of volleyball, none were as true as this.
Wow, I can’t believe that our last two matches of the season are already here!! All that talk we had about the second half of conference play seems like yesterday and here we are at the end of it.
Happy Halloween everyone!!! Looking back on the season so far, it’s crazy to believe that we only have five games left! This past week we saw a huge surge of our competitive energy. With a road match at Tusculum last Tuesday and what a game that was. With a doozy set in the beginning, two sweeps in set two and three, another doozy and we’re back in the fifth. That’s the beauty of volleyball though, you have five chances to do your best, and hopefully three of the five work out. The game went to the Pioneers but again our relentless fighting showed.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Coker used a 16-4 run in the third set to flip momentum and break even a 1-1 match and topple Carson-Newman 28-26, 18-25, 25-22 and 25-20 Friday night at Holt Fieldhouse in South Atlantic Conference play.
The first weekend of Conference: Round 2 is in the books! This is the time we’ve been looking forward to all season. Seeing all these teams again is great because now, moreso for us freshmen, we have something we can expect from our opponents.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman made 11 attack errors in the fourth set in a loss to Anderson 21-25, 28-26, 24-26 and 25-10 in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Holt Fieldhouse Friday evening.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – With four of its next five matches at home, Carson-Newman plays host to Anderson (S.C.) Friday night at 7 p.m. and Newberry Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse in South Atlantic Conference action.
What a packed 10 days we’ve had! Coming off a weekend win at Brevard had us ready to work hard in practice. Monday was a special day… one of our own had a family emergency, and the team’s response was immediate. Practice was cancelled, everyone wrote out notes, and some of the girls rallied together to pay her a visit and provide love and support. Thankfully, everything is looking very positive with her family and we all hope that it will continue to get better and better!
HARROGATE, Tenn. – League-leading Lincoln Memorial swept Carson-Newman 25-14, 25-14 and 25-20 in South Atlantic Conference action Tuesday night at Mary Mars Gymnasium to maintain its one-match lead in the conference.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman begins the second half of its South Atlantic Conference schedule Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Mary Mars Gymnasium against the top team in the league, Lincoln Memorial.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – USC Aiken hit .286 as the Pacers defeated Carson-Newman 25-18, 25-21 and 25-15 Saturday afternoon at Holt Fieldhouse in the South Atlantic Conference versus the Peach Belt Conference Crossover.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – In the final match of the South Atlantic Conference versus the Peach Belt Conference Crossover, Georgia College entered Holt Fieldhouse Saturday evening and left with a 25-22, 20-25, 28-26 and 26-24 victory.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Alex Biro, Abbie McFarlane and Marnie Streeter combined for 56 kills as Carson-Newman seized a five-set match over Augusta 25-15, 23-25, 25-27, 27-25 and 15-11 Friday evening at Holt Fieldhouse to conclude day one of play in the South Atlantic Conference versus the Peach Belt Conference Crossover.
A week of productive practice and learning new things paid off. We won our game against Brevard in a five-set thriller, coming back three straight sets from a 2-0 deficit in the beginning!!! Obviously something we are accustomed to, but Friday night everything came together. Offense was keeping balls in play and reducing errors. Our defense was hustling after balls left and right.
Every home game surprises me more and more… the energy we have from the stands is undeniable! All you Eagle fans that come out week after week to show your support and encouragement means more than you know.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman held a 2-1 lead in the match before Catawba hit .273 in the final two sets to defeat the Eagles 15-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18 and 15-6 in South Atlantic Conference play at Holt Fieldhouse Saturday evening.
Another weekend on the road is done… thank goodness we have an awesome home game stretch coming up! Tuesday, Friday and Saturday we host Tusculum, Queens and Catawba.
