Bio

2021: Carson-Newman senior first baseman was presented with the Tennessee Sportswriters' Association's State Player of the Week award following Carson-Newman softball's 5-1 debut week. Eakes batted .500 (7-for-14) with one homer, seven RBI and three runs scored in six games for the Eagles. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native singled, walked and scored a run in the first of two games against King and recorded a pair of two-run singles in the second contest versus the Tornado.  For the season she .347 with eight home runs and 42 RBi, the second most in the South Atlantic Conference.

PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN:  Eakes stood out in her sophomore campaign at UNA; she played in 33 games with 13 starts in 2018 - batting .415 on the year with 22 hits, including two doubles and four home runs. She posted a .679 slugging percentage. A total of 10 of her hits, including two of her home runs were pinch hits, including a two-run homer on March 24 against Spring Hill. As a freshman, she saw action in nine games in 2017, including two starts at designated player. She batted .200 on the year, going 3-for-15 at the plate with a double and a home run. She was named to the ASun’s All-Academic team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Eakes played at Wilson Central High School for coach Brandon 'Bubba' Sutton. She helped lead the Wildcats to four straight district titles (2013-16), two straight region championships (2014-15) and a 2015 AAA State Championship.  She was a three-time all-district selection, named the 2013 Rookie of the Year and led the team in RBI's in 2014 and 2015.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Katie Ashton Eakes. She is the daughter of Stant and Wendy Eakes. At North Alabama, she was involved in National Honors Society, National Society of Leadership & Success, Executive Social Media Coordinator in the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee and Lion's Leadership Committee.
