Bio
2019: Part of the Starting XI in nine of her 16 appearances. Earned CoSIDA Academic All-American Third-Team honors. Scored a pair of goals including a header in the 84th minute to take down No. 6 Lincoln Memorial on September 18. Half of her 10 shot attempts landed on goal.
Previous: Transfer from Martin Methodist College, where she was a started for a No. 1 ranked NAIA team in 2017. Voted to the First-Team in the Southern States Athletic Conference in both her years as a player for the RedHawks. Honorable Mention NAIA All-American in 2017 and 2018. Voted to the SSAC All-Academic Team in 2018.
Personal: Majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-med.

Coming off of a victory over rival Tusculum, junior defense Lira Mathes has been recognized as an Academic All-District Women’s Soccer first-team member, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A trio of goals scored, a mark reached for the fourth time this season, lifted the Carson-Newman Eagles past the Coker Cobras on the road Saturday at Coker Athletic Field by a final of 3-1.

Lira Mathes’ first career goal in the 84th minute proved to be the difference as the Carson-Newman Eagles defeated the No. 6 Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters at McCown Field Wednesday evening.
Although not as flashy in the statistical categories, defense such as sophomore Jente Kuper have helped sustain the reputation that the Eagles’ defensive third is among the stingiest in the South Atlantic Conference.
