2025-26 (Freshman): Penland competed in all 35 games for the Lady Eagles during the 2025-26 season. She played 422 minutes and made three starts as a freshman. Her three starts came all in a row in late January into early February. In her first career start against Tusculum on Jan 28, Penland scored 11 points on five of seven shooting with two steals in just 19 minutes. Her other double-digit scoring performance came in the game prior, scoring 10 in a road win over Catawba. She plaed double-digit minutes in 24 of her 35 appearances, including a career-high 22 in a first round win over #12 Columbus State in the NCAA Tournament. Grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds against E&H on Feb 18. Had three games with at least three assists. Career-high three steals versus Coker on Jan 30. Played 12 minutes a game, averaging 2.6 points and 3.3 rebounds on 38 percent shooting.

HIGH SCHOOL: Penland scored more than 1500 points in her high school career and led her team in scoring all four years. She was a first-team all-district selection all four years and was district tournament MVP her freshman and junior years. In her junior and senior seasons, she was named to the all-region tournament team and was TWSA all-state. With the Smoky Bears, she has won three consecutive district and region tournament championships.

PERSONAL: Cybil is the third member of her family to play a sport at Carson-Newman. Her sister, Campbell, was a 1,000-point scorer and in four years with the Lady Eagles. Her father, Matt played quarterback at Carson-Newman from 1993-96. He started for two South Atlantic Conference Championship units in 1995 and 1996, winning the conference's Offensive Player of the Year honors in 1995.
