Williams, Brooks earn Chick-Fil-A Athlete of the Week honors

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman men's basketball's Sawyer Williams (Owenton, Ky.) and women's basketball's Kailyn Brooks (Lafayette, Tenn.) have been named the Chick-Fil-A Male and Female Athletes of the Week. 

Williams tallied 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting in the Eagles' win over Mars Hill Saturday for his second 20-point effort in as many games.  Williams now has four, 20-point games this season and eight in his career. Williams also added nine rebounds while dishing out a season-high three assists. 

Brooks scored 20 points for the second straight game and fourth time in her career in a 19-point win over Mars Hill on Saturday. The junior went 6-for-10 and converted a career-best four three-pointers in the victory over the Lions. The Lafayette, Tenn. native tallied five assists and zero turnovers marking the second time this year that she has notched at least five helpers and zero giveaways.
