Hobson Stelling

Bio

2022-2023: Stelling became an All-American for his contribution to the men's 400-yard freestyle relay at the 2023 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships. He swam with teammates Ridge McCay, Matthew George, and Arthur Gluzman, and the quartet placed sixth in 2:55.53, just shy of the program record. Stelling also competed in the men's 400-yard medley relay where they placed 13th in 3:14.35. He helped break the C-N swim program record in the 800-yard freestyle relay with teammates George, Gluzman, and Wander Sousa. The team placed 10^th with a finals time of 6:32.66. At the SAC Swimming Championships, Stelling grabbed bronze in the 100-yard freestyle in 44.07, and he finished second in the event against Georgia Tech (45.22). Stelling earned seven top-5 individual finishes on the season. 

2021-2022: Stelling was a NCAA individual qualifier and recieved two All-American titles in the 4x200 and 4x400-yard freestyle relays. He took part in three program records in the 4x800 freestyle relay, 4x200 medley relay, and the fastest 50-yard freestyle relay split at 19.19. Stelling's best times include the 50-yard freestyle (20.16), 100-yard freestyle (43.89), and 200-yard freestyle (1:39.13). He was 2x all-conference 50 and 100-yard freestyle and second team all-conference for the 200-yard freestlye. 

High School: At the 2020 TN High School Championship, Stelling placed second in the 50 free (20.65) and fifth in the 200 free (42.90). While competing at the 2020 SES Championship, Stelling gathered a top-10 finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.90. At the 2019 TN High School Championship, he claimed fifth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free. During his time as an Eagle, he was named a Futures Qualifier for the 50 free and 100 free while also gaining recognition as a Winter Speedo Junior Nationals Qualifier in the 50 free.  Stelling was named a two-time Commerical Appeal Boys Swimmer of the Year Finalist in back-to-back years. 

Personal: Son of Mark and Kellye Stelling. Intends to study Business at Carson-Newman.
