2022: A pass-rush specialist on the defensive line for the Eagles, the fox end tallied 14 tackles, with four coming behind the line of scrimmage.  He also had a sack and a half plus a fumble recovery.  He recovered his fumble off a strip sack against Mars Hill.  He had his most productive day with two stops behind the line of scrimmage against Limestone.

2021: Owens is a physics major with a 3.59 GPA.  Owens finished the year with 19 tackles.  He topped out with four stops against Barton and finished the year with three tackles for loss. He became Carson-Newman's first defensive lineman to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors since Phalen Booker in 2016. 

HONORS:

2020: Owens turned in three tackles, all solo, from the spring game against UVA Wise. He also had a quarterback hurry.   

2019: Fox end earned his way into the starting lineup and logged starts in all 12 games for the Eagles at defensive end.  Owens made 34 tackles with 1.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss.  Two weeks into his career, he produced a five-tackle game with 2.5 stops behind the line at Wingate (9/21). His top performances came in back-to-back weeks against Limestone (11/9) and Tusculum (11/16) with back-to-back four-tackle weeks.  

HIGH SCHOOL: A team captain and defensive MVP for Keith Henderson and Buckhorn High School, Owens was the Bucks leading tackler as a senior with 100 tackles and 10 tackles for loss.  He also registered two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries a pair of pass break ups and a sack. He earned all-region honors at the conclusion of his senior season and helped the Bucks register as the fifth-stingiest defense in Alabama.

PERSONAL: The son of Linda and David Owens, he plans to study toward being an engineer at Carson-Newman.  His brother, Silas, played football for the Murray State Racers.  Owens was a member of the all-academic team and National Honor Society in High School.
