2022: Erwin started the year exclusively on kickoffs before taking over field goal and PAT duties in the back half of the year. A field position weapon, Erwin blasted 32 kickoffs for touchbacks out of his 56 tries – a rate of 57 percent. As a result of his kicks, Carson-Newman's opponents' average starting field position was the 25.6 yard line.  Erwin was third on the team in scoring. He nailed four of his seven field goals and 19-of-20 PATs.  Three of Erwin's four makes were from greater than 35 yards, including two, season-long 42-yard tries against Erskine. He made three field goals against the Flying Fleet.

2021: A touchback machine, Erwin was responsible in part for Carson-Newman having one of the best kick-coverage units in the country.  Of his 29 kickoffs, 11 went for touchbacks and opponent's averaged a starting drive position of their own 25 following his kicks.  He made 4-of-12 field goals on the year, including a long of 45 yards against Barton.  He was 2-for-8 on kicks of 42 yards or longer.  Erwin made 12-of-13 point after attempt conversions.  

2020: After drilling game-tying and winning 40+ yard field goals in Carson-Newman football's 40+37 overtime win over UVA Wise, Eagle freshman kicker Christian Erwin was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Erwin connected on 4-of-5 field goal attempts and all three of his extra points.  In his second collegiate kick, he booted a 49-yard field goal through with 31 seconds left in regulation to force overtime (his previous long in high school was 45 yards).  Erwin then proceeded to knock home 27, 36 and 43-yarders to win it for the Eagles in a four-overtime special that matched the longest game in school history.  The freshman put his name into the Carson-Newman record books with the performance. Erwin joined Curt Duncan as the only kickers to make four field goals in a game in school history. Duncan did his feat twice, against Lenoir-Rhyne (9-22-12) and Valdosta State (12-1-12). His 16 points are the second most scored by a kicker in program history.  Second to Duncan (17 against L-R) and Carson Wise (17 against Tusculum). In addition to his prolific scoring, Erwin also made a game-saving tackle on a kickoff return that was bound for the end zone.

HIGH SCHOOL: Erwin accounted for 96 points for the Eagles during his career. He holds the school record for the longest field goal at 45 yards. He sent out 95 kickoffs for 6,034 yards, averaging 60.3 yards per kick, kicking for touchbacks nearly 80-percent of the time. He was the MVP for Special Teams while also receiving Allstar Blitz honors and being tabbed the Strongest Pound-for-Pound student on campus. He was a part of an Eagles’ squad that won the region championship.

PERSONAL: The son of Jeff and Anita Erwin, he plans to study Computer Science at Carson-Newman. He was a Junior Marshall at Clover while holding the top GPA on the roster at 4.92.
